miru amami introduces latest additions by ADX
Japanese hospitality group Miru Collection introduces its latest additions to the the lush island of Amami Oshima. Designed by local architecture studio ADX, the Seascape and Bayview Villas welcome guests to a tranquil corner amid the island’s sub-tropical greenery, overlooking the bay and mountains far ahead. Each villa embraces a cave-like and stilted wooden design, with arched windows that flood the interiors with natural light. From afar, the buildings appear to co-exist with the forested setting, registered as a World Natural Heritage Site

eco-conscious resort villas amid lush island in japan
Given their context, the latest Miru Amami villas are built through eco-conscious construction. The team at ADX opted for innovative, high-floor, and independent foundation methods, minimizing concrete use in the process to reduce the project’s environmental footprint on the natural site. Ultimately, the elevated design of the Seascape and Bayview Villas, perched on stilts, not only preserves the land’s natural water, but also ensures that animals remain unaffected, while effectively mitigating disaster risks and melding with the sub-tropical terrain. Bookings can be made via the Miru Amami portal.
