Make it extreme returns with electric monowheel

 

Make It Extreme, the masterminds behind the mini motorbike with a single tire, is back with another custom vehicle. This time, it’s a bigger and life-size version of its previous build. Gone is the internal combustion engine as the design team makes its monowheel electric. The process of building the custom ride wasn’t as difficult as its sibling, since the team already had an idea how to construct the parts. They first made the giant frame using metal. They shaped it in a perfect circle, which, in the end, may resemble a wheel used in circus shows.

 

Make It Extreme ended up with a 145-cm-diameter metallic wheel. Once they got it, the tires padding came next. Since there aren’t such tires with these dimensions, the team had to cut and recycle three wheels of a motorcycle and go-kart, each with specific dimensions. They connected all the tires to create a giant wheel, then placed it around the metallic wheel. As soon as the cushioned metallic was ready, Make It Extreme went for the chassis next. They made it with three rollers and a black plastic material on which the wheel could spin.

Combined Motorcycle and go-kart tires for electric monowheel

 

Make It Extreme sources materials from go-kart too to power its electric monowheel made of motorcycle tires. In fact, the wheel can propel forward and move because of the two motors connected on a tire drawn from a go-kart vehicle. This helps achieve good traction during cruising and the transmission of the movement to the big wheel. It’s because the tires taken from go-karts are made of non-slip materials. ‘The second reason that we did this is to achieve a greater, final speed as we use a wheel of a double diameter by a motor,’ the design team adds. The motors move well thanks to the two controllers that Make It Extreme tied with a throttle. 

 

The setup allows for the electric monowheel to rotate simultaneously. ‘The sense we get driving this vehicle is really amazing. Although it is dangerous while driving, it still gives us an incredible experience,’ says the design team. Another feature that makes the recent electric monowheel different from its younger sibling comes from the torque of the electromotion. This means the new model has a much stronger and faster-acting motor compared to older models. As of publishing the story, Make It Extreme is preparing the plan of their electric monowheel made of motorcycle and go-kart tires, so that viewers who may want to build their own can do it.
