new issey miyake flagship opens in paris
This month, Japanese fashion brand Issey Miyake has opened its new flagship store in Paris, located at 28 rue François 1er, in the heart of the Triangle d’or, in the capital’s emblematic eighth district. Previously occupied by the Europe 1 radio studio headquarters, the building today hosts a vibrant boutique, designed by multidisciplinary creative Tokujin Yoshioka, for the first time.

While respecting the history and culture of the city, the new store embodied the joyful spirit of the Issey Miyake brand through vibrant creativity. The building has been completely rebuilt and restored, preserving only the typically Parisian facade intact. The space spans two floors with an area of approximately 360 square meters, revealing an environment where natural light coming through the large front and rear windows. The interiors, designed by Tokujin Yoshioka (see more here), boast a modern and refined ambiance. Their orange aluminum walls, shining bright like the sun, evoke a futuristic and an energetic space, with slight nods to tradition.

‘The architectural history of 19th-century France blends with orange, the color symbolizing the sun. The space, characterized by colored aluminum walls created with a refined anodization technique, expresses Issey Miyake’s philosophy for craftsmanship and his energy for the future,’ concludes Tokujin Yoshioka.
