vertical architectural elements outline CANVAS HOUSE
Canvas House, a project by Unknown Surface Studio, stands on Bangkok‘s Soi Lat Phrao Street, amid high-rise residential buildings. Following the owner’s objective to create a residence accommodating diverse functions, including a dance studio, filming area, and living space, the design aims for a thoughtful layout while preserving privacy. The main house is positioned on the property’s right side allowing open space on the left for landscaping, integrating with the surroundings. A significant vertical white wall ensures privacy and outlines the structure’s outdoor zones. The circulation, for both public and private areas, is distinct yet seamlessly interconnected. To maintain this continuity, the design incorporates no-handle doors, subtly blending with the walls.

four levels arrange the diverse functions and living zones
Unknown Surface Studio arranges an efficient layout separating and defining the functions of each floor. The ground floor serves as a double-spaced studio for photography, illuminated by overhead panel lights. A concealed door leads to a kitchen and living area connected to the studio. An exterior staircase leads to the second level—a dance rehearsal area with a waiting space. A hidden wall on this floor connects to the workspace, fostering interaction between teams from the two spaces. The third level, a private space for the owner, features the main living area and a small courtyard connected to the fourth level. The top floor unfolds as a private penthouse, accommodating the master bedroom and a poolside relaxation area, enjoying views of the city scene.
