roli brings 5D technology to seaboard block M, so users can fluctuate sounds like a violin

ROLI is back with seaboard block M

ROLI has long introduced Seaboard Block as an electronic keyboard that can be a mobile sound studio and is equipped with multi-touch system. Since those have already been done, the electronics company brings 5D touch technology to its upgraded compact Seaboard Block M so users can stick their fingers onto the keyboard, sway them, and produce fluctuating sounds similar to a violin or cello. They can also use their fingers to strike, press, glide, slide, and lift them, and ROLI’s Seaboard Block M will generate sounds correlated to those gestures, whether it is to retain a tune or to make it more upbeat.

5D touch technology creates fluctuating sounds

Since ROLI has upgraded its Seaboard Block M, improved consistency and sound control can be expected using its latest firmware where the users can personalize their velocity curve. The new MiDi output also allows for direct connection to hardware synthesizers if the users want. ROLI imagines Seaboard Block M to be crafted for extended studio sessions and tours so the company employs soft-touch silicon keywaves which adds to the haptic sensitivity of the MiDi controller (there’s no need to poke the buttons hard or smash the fingers onto the keyboard).

Connection and battery-wise, the mobile music studio can last for up to 10 hours of battery life and comes with 15-meter Bluetooth range so the users can wirelessly connect to devices even if they are slightly far from them. Aspiring electronic musicians can also play around with the ROLI Studio, a software accompanying the MiDi controller, where they can choose from 400 distintinctive sounds and presets for their production. The software also offers Drums which creates its own drum beats with around 15 drum kits, each with 16 distinct and controllable parts.
