3d printed 10 nodes armchair repurposes pet plastic bottles

Daniyar Uderbekov continues his explorations of natural wool furniture objects with the 10 Nodes armchair, upholstered from a single large piece of felt. The frame is composed of wooden cuttings gathered from garden tools, while the woolen terrazzo finish that wraps it has been shaped from recycled and 3D printed PET plastic from old bottles.

The Kazakh product designer has selected felt as his core material due to its biodegradable qualities and distinct strength, resistant to rain, snow, and the sun. A paint treatment further protects the chair from the elements, making it water-resistant, and suitable for use both indoors and outdoors, under the open sky.

daniyar uderbekov crafts a minimalist structural frame

The design of the 10 Nodes armchair arose from the task of utilizing as little connecting nodes in the frame as possible. As a result, like the chair’s name suggests, Daniyar Uderbekov was able to achieve a minimum number of ten pieces.

Felt, rolled by hand and recycled, is often embedded with small blades of grass, seeds, and threads, which inspired the furniture designer to introduce specks of color and texture into the chair’s surface. The aesthetic finish favors more saturated and bold patterns, appearing like Terrazzo.
